Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and friendship. For single moms, it can feel like an extra challenge to find ways to celebrate. That’s why we’ve compiled this list of ideas for you, your family and friends who want to enjoy Galentine’s Day or simply spend some quality time together:

Get Cooking!

Cooking is a great way to bond with your friends. Make sure you have all the ingredients you need before you start, and have fun with it! You can cook something simple and easy, or something more complex.

If you’re not much of a cook but would like to try something new, this is an excellent opportunity for experimentation. Try making something new for yourself (and maybe even for your kids).

Do Something Crafty With Your Mom Friends for Galentine’s Day!

  • Crafts are fun, and you can make something for your home, for a gift and/or for yourself.
  • If you’re looking to do something crafty with your friends in honor of Galentine’s Day, there are plenty of ideas out there. Here are some of our favorites:
  • Make a DIY pencil holder from an old wine bottle. It’s easy to do and looks great when finished!Go on Pinterest to check out some of our favorite DIY projects and Galentine’s Day ideas!

Have a Girls’ Night Out or In.

  • Have a Girls’ Night Out or In.
  • Invite your friends over for dinner, movie night or game night! You can do this with or without kids in the mix depending on what makes you feel most comfortable.
  • Watch a movie together and have popcorn, of course!
  • Play games like Scrabble, Monopoly or Cards Against Humanity (if you’re feeling brave). It’s always fun to get competitive with your friends!
  • Have a paint party with friends.

It’s a great way to get together with your friends and have fun while doing something artistic. You can even make it a DIY party by having everyone bring their own supplies and do some painting on canvas or in frames.

Visit with Local Animals.

There are so many wonderful places to visit with animals. You can go to your local animal shelter, or even a farm if you have one nearby. If not, there are many petting zoos that allow people to interact with animals safely and at no cost (or very little cost).  And, of course, this is a big hit with kids too!

Have trainer or instructor come and do a class for you and your friends on Galentine’s day!

If you and your friends are interested in getting fit, but don’t want to go through the hassle of booking a class, try hiring a trainer or instructor to come over and teach you. You can find them on websites like TaskRabbit. Depending on how many people are in your group, this might be cheaper than paying for multiple classes at once!

If you’re looking to save money, try and find a good coupon or promotion. You can also check out sites like Groupon or LivingSocial for deals on classes in your area.

Go to a Movie in the Middle of the Day.

You can often get cheaper tickets for movies in the middle of the day. If you have kids, this is a great time to go because they will be in school and not interrupting your movie experience with their loud talking or crying. You might even be able to sneak away from work early and enjoy an afternoon matinee!

If that doesn’t work out, then consider going to see a movie during dinner or lunchtime hours (or after dinner). Many theaters offer discounted tickets during these times.
